Dr. Matthew Cornell

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Cornell joined the Lombard Veterinary Hospital team in 2015 after earning his DVM from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois in 2011. His veterinary interests include preventative wellness care, internal medicine, and cytology.

His interest in veterinary medicine stems from his frequent trips to Willowbrook Wildlife Center, and Cosley Zoo, and from a childhood filled with raising and breeding Great Danes, his favorite breed. Dr. Cornell and his wife Kristen, have twins, Caleb and Kelsey, with whom they also share their home with two rescue dogs, Cody a Bernese Mountain Dog/Coonhound mix, and Cleo an American Bully/Pitbull mix.

Lombard has been Dr. Cornell’s home for over 25 years. When he was younger, he enjoyed sports and music activities at Glenbard East High School with his two younger brothers and was lucky enough to attend college with them at the University of Illinois. When he’s not caring for animals, he enjoys watching and playing sports with his friends and family. His favorite sports are football, basketball, and tennis. Additionally, he and Kristen love taking the family and fur-children to many of the Dupage Forest Preserves and dog parks.
